House System

At Werribee Secondary College, every student is assigned to one of the College's eight Houses for the duration of their time at the College; siblings are assigned to the same House.  The eight Houses are:

- Burnet - Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet, OM, AK, KBE, FRS - House Value: "Integrity" (Bulls - RED)
- Chisholm - Caroline Chisholm - House Value: "Perseverance" (Sharks - BLUE)
- Dunlop - Lieutenant Colonel Sir Ernest Edward Dunlop, AC , CMG , OBE - House Value: "Responsibility" (Devils - AQUA)
- Dynon - Moira Dynon - House Value: "Resilience" (Dragons - PURPLE)
- Evatt - Herbert Vere Evatt, QC KStJ - House Value: "Honesty" (Wolves - BLACK)
- Gilmore - Dame Mary Gilmore DBE - House Value: "Co-operation" (Gryphons - GREEN)
- Hollows - Frederick Cossom Hollows, AC - House Value: "Respect" - (Hornets - YELLOW)
- Murdoch - Dame Elisabeth Joy Murdoch AC DBE - House Value: "Confidence" (Phoenix - ORANGE)

The House System provides opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills, work co-operatively which teachers and other students and to improve the school experience for all members of the College and of the wider community.

Each House has two Student Captains who work with the House Vice-Captains and the House Leader (teacher) to organise and promote House Activities and Special Events.

Tutor Groups

Within each of the eight Houses are eight Tutor Groups comprised of students from Years 7 to 12.  Students remain in the same House for their time at the College and develop a relationship with other students and their Tutor.  Activities are organised in support of House and College events.  From 2015 Tutor Groups developed an increasingly pastoral focus on individual goals, academic performance and social development.

Student Leadership

The senior Student Leadership Team consists of the two School Captains, 16 House Captains and the 48 Year 11, 10 and 8 House Vice-Captains.  The team has responsibility for the operation of the Houses and plays a key role in the organisation of special events including House Weeks, Swimming and Athletic Sports Carnivals and International Week.

Members of the Student Leadership Team Members are trained in team leadership skills, and draw on the work done by the High Resolves Gobal Citizenship / Global Leadership program.
